Childrens Book Club
Currently there are no public libraries in the country of Liberia, and there has never been a children"s library. For the time being, we are using the cafeteria at ABC University to reach out to the children of the village of Yekepa. We have sent thousands of books from the states to begin a Children's Community Library. Two Saturdays a month education majors from the university meet with children, have a story time and a phonics lesson, the children have a snack and are encouraged to check out a book to be enjoyed at home. Some of these children have never even touched a book, much less been allowed to borrow it. This program costs $70.00 per month to run. One time donations are welcome if you would like to take part in the building of the first ever children's community library.

Read ABC Liberia
Loving Through Literacy is partnering with ABC University in Yekepa Liberia on program designed to teach phonetic reading skills. Bush area teachers as well as education majors enrolled at ABCU have an open invitation to attend a two-week phonetic reading course. This course will give them the tools and confidence necessary to educate the children in their home villages. All books and materials will be given to each teacher in order to re-enforce concepts necessary for phonetic reading. Sponsor an instructor

Books to the bush
Sponsoring this mobile library makes it possible to encourage reading even in the deepest jungle areas. We are partnering with ABCU to provide a van, driver, an ABCU education major, and a portable book rack full of books. They will venture out every other Saturday to ensure that children and adults in the deepest areas of the jungle are given the opportunity to enjoy the library experience.
